About the Breed

Generations:

F1: First Generation Doodle

  • "F" stands for filial and is just a way to denote generation. So, F1 GoldenDoodle means first generation GoldenDoodle. Doodle Companions are great family pets.

  • This is a cross between a purebred Golden Retriever and purebred Poodle.

  • This is a great choice for those who are in love with the Golden Retrievers because there will be some traits preserved.

  • F1's will still shed and have loose wavy coats

F2: Second Generation Doodle

  • A cross between an F1 Doodle and an F1 Doodle. Again, there's a 50/50 split of both breeds.

  • This is a good generation choice for those who are flexible with shedding and who are looking for both breeds' personalities.

F1b: F1b Doodle

  • The "b" stands for back cross. Meaning, the hybrid cross has been back bred with a purebred parent.

  • A cross between an F1 Doodle and Poodle. The result, the puppy is 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever (or other breed).

  • These puppies usually have wavy/curly coats and have reduced shedding.

  • This generation is a great choice for those who struggle with allergies or aren't a fan of cleaning up a lot of dog hair.

F1bb: F1bb Doodle

  • A cross between an F1b Doodle and Poodle. The result, the puppy is 88% Poodle and 22% Golden Retriever (or other breed).

  • These puppies usually curly coats and have very low shedding. They can be more similar to Poodles in regard to coat, personality and appearance.

  • This generation is a great choice for those who struggle with allergies and don't mind the personality of a Poodle with a little flair of Golden Retriever (or other breed).
